SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme)
The Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme forms part of the Construction Skills (CITB) Site Safety Plus range of courses which are greatly regarded within the construction industry and seen as being the highest quality of qualification for SSSTS Training.
The SSSTS training is a 2 day course targeted at site supervisors who deal with day to day Health and Safety issues on-site and are looking for the knowledge and facts necessary to comply with their health and safety responsibilities. The qualification meets the specification detailed within the UKCG (formerly MCG) “Supervisor Training Standard” which is a requirement for all supervisors working on UKCG members’ sites.
Throughout the two day training programme, supervisors will gather relevant knowledge in relation to their legal responsibilities whilst carrying out duties on site, the course also provides an improved understanding of health, safety, environmental and welfare issues. It will highlight the requirement to encourage health and safety to supervise efficiently. SSSTS training is appropriate for individuals who are presently employed as a supervisor or will be taking on supervisory responsibilities inside their role.
The training covers a large number of health and safety aspects relating specifically to the site mangers role including: The supervisors role, Health & Safety Law & Enforcement, Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessment & Method Statements Principles of Prevention and Health & Safety Management
Course candidates are assessed throughout the 2 day course through interactive sessions and will also take a multiple choice, written examination in order to qualify for the SSSTS accreditation. Certification is valid for 5 years, however there are likely to be continuing changes in legislation, environmental management and technology so it is recommended that refresher courses are sat within 3 years of attending the original course.
